Recently I was working with a client on her lack of business success. She was running a small business and had achieved minimal success, but wanted to achieve a higher level of success. As we explored the reasons why she couldn't be a successful business owner, we discovered a couple of limiting beliefs holding her back that had to do with her height and the fact that she was a female.
This client was around 5 feet tall and explained that she had reached that height at around age 12. As we explored further, she mentioned she still felt like a child who never really grew up due to her height and related it to the age that she stopped growing.
We use the following set up phrases for several rounds of EFT:
Even though I've never grown up
Even though I still feel like I'm 12
Even though I stopped growing when I was 12
Even though I'm stuck being 12 forever
Even though I never feel like an adult
Even though I never feel like a grown up
Even though I still feel like a child
Even though I feel small and insignificant
Even though short people can't be successful
Even though 12-year-olds can't be successful
We then used the following reframes to help anchor in the shift we achieve in her belief system:
I am an adult.
I am all grown up.
I am educated.
I am smart enough for success.
Height doesn't matter in the world of success.
I believe in myself.
I am proud of my accomplishments.
I love being me.
We then worked on the issue of only men being entitled to success. I like to do "disconnects" for beliefs that are linked inappropriately, stating the limiting belief and then stating "that is not true". We used the following set up phrases:
Even though only men can be successful business owners - that is not true.
Even though only tall men can be successful business owners - that is not true.
Even though I'm not a man – so I can’t be successful - that is not true.
Even though I am a woman – so I can’t be successful - that is not true.
Even though I'm short – so I can't be successful - that is not true.
Even though I'm not tall – so I can't be successful - that is not true.
Even though I believe my lack of success has to do with my height and gender - that is not true.
Here are the reframes that we created:
Anyone can be successful.
Everyone can be successful.
I can be successful if I choose to be.
Successful people come in all sizes and ages.
I know plenty of successful women.
I know plenty of successful short people.
I have decided to be successful.
My success is up to me.
This client was instructed to tap in the reframes several times a day in order to really anchor them into her belief system.
She no longer feels limited by her height or gender, and knows that her success is determined by her decision to be successful.
